RNA Platforms

Self-amplifying RNA (saRNA)
& Circular RNA (circRNA)

saRNA and circRNA platforms for extended protein expression and enhanced nuclease stability — available for research and preclinical applications.

Platform Comparison
saRNA basisAlphavirus replicon
circRNA stabilityNo free 5′/3′ termini
LNP encapsulationAvailable for both

Extended expression with advanced RNA platforms

Self-amplifying RNA (saRNA) incorporates a replicase element that amplifies intracellular RNA levels, enabling lower doses to achieve equivalent protein expression compared to standard mRNA. Circular RNA (circRNA) provides enhanced nuclease stability due to the absence of free 5′ and 3′ termini, extending protein expression without the need for modified nucleotides.

Format specifications

FormatKey featureDeliveryTypical application
saRNAAlphavirus replicon-based; lower dose requirementLNP recommendedVaccine research, protein expression
circRNANo free termini; high nuclease resistanceLNP or nakedExtended expression studies, RNA therapeutics research
Workflow for saRNA closely follows that of IVT mRNA. Key differences are the replicon design and the requirement for a longer RNA template. Contact our team to discuss your specific design requirements.
